Finding the confidence to communicate their brand’s competitive edge
The Justice Collective, or “TJC” as Co-founder and Managing Partner Ellie Tumbuan calls it, is a full-service social impact consultancy that helps organizations excel through racial equity strategy. Founded in Oakland, California, TJC has always been a mission-driven organization, bringing a holistic, relationship-centered approach to organizational change and development.

Ellie explains, “We've always known, because of where we worked and the issues that we saw in organizations, that there's always talent. There's always wisdom. There's always abundance, and we're here to bring that out with our partners so that they can make the impact they want and do everything that they are meant to do.”
Like many social justice consultancies, TJC was struggling to tell their brand story in a clear, crisp, purposeful way that conveyed their true mission, business impact, and the essence of what they do. TJC was going through a period of rapid growth followed by internal changes, including new hires.
As an executive leader, Ellie was responsible for partnering with the business development team to increase their revenue. Ellie was also responsible for the branding and communications of TJC. The leadership team knew the importance of clarifying their key message but needed a cohesive, strategic way to reach the right customers and help potential clients understand why they should work with TJC.
